Fun!

This may be the most fun thing(s) I’ve made yet! Years ago I took a class in birch xc-ski making and I loved that. I made myself a very expensive, heavy (but beautiful) birch skis. I’ve used them twice. The snow must be perfect for me to consider actually using them.

These recent skis were something special, for two little people I haven’t even met – yet. My daughter and daughter-in-law are both expecting first babies and I needed the perfect gift for a double shower. Two weeks before the event, I came up with this idea: their first skis!

Sometimes I just have to do what I want to do! Build a shed, make my own dining room table and chairs, or make a frog –often I don’t even know what’s going to happen. Below are some photos of what has happened lately:

WordPress Websites
Well, the one you’re looking through is mine. No sense in posting a photo.

I also created the Shedcraft.wordpress.com site. You can buy that She’d you know!

I created a site for Minnehaha Academy Nordic ski team. Click on image below to get there.

Writing
I recently co-authored and illustrated a book. The book is a curriculum guide for elementary and middle school teachers who teach cross country skiing.

In November of 2011, a story I wrote was published in Cross Country Skier magazine…

Photoshop
The Minnehaha ARROW always includes a photo of the many merit scholars on the summer issue cover. Not all the students were available for the Summer 2013 issue, so I held a couple photo sessions and inserted them in the photo. It turned out pretty well!

Here was a fun improvement to the photo I used for the cover of MINNEHAHA MAGAZINE.

And, speaking of that cover photo. A recent logo redesign needed to be celebrated on this cover, so I thought it best to make sure the logo was a central part of the activity. So, I whipped one up on my back patio:
